OK so there's this viral thing going around where you get "tagged" and then hafta say 7 random things about yourself. Because this is a neat demonstration of principles from The Tipping Point and virality I'll try to dream up something for me...
1. I hit left handed in softball because when I was little, I read that left handed hitters have an advantage over right handed pitchers. Since most pitchers are right handed, I chose to hit left. I was too smart for my own good. In slowpitch softball, it doesn't matter.
2. When I shop, for groceries or otherwise, I tend to use the "inspiration" approach rather than a list approach that most people do. What then tends to happen is I find myself going back and forth throughout the store as a new inspiration hits me and I need to go back and find a complementary product. A layout that would help me a lot is one where products are grouped in needs for a whole meal instead of by type of food.
3. I was deathly afraid of car washes when I was little, especially on Sesame Street. I can't remember why at all. And when I go through car washes with my parents to this day, they remind me about it.
4. My sister and I on road trips would always ask "I wonder if they serve waffles" whenever we passed a Waffle House.
5. I'm an economies of scale person... i.e. I like to wait until things become a huge pile before taking care of it all at one time. For instance, I tend to buy more dishes instead of wash my dishes more often. I also refuse to mow my lawn more than every other week. I figure putting a huge load into the dishwasher is much more economical. Now there's definitely a downside to this; I tend to get pissed off when the sink is full of dishes or when the grass is so long I have trouble pushing the mower.
6. People with unique names or unique accents intrigue me. I like to know how they got their name, there's just some sort of artistic-ness to the name itself and the story of how they got it.
7. I'm someone who really needs a regular sleep cycle. I've pulled an all nighter once... and that was for a high school post-graduation party. I hate waking up when it's still dark. I hated working third shift for one of my plant trials. If I go to bed real late, I want to sleep in the next day.
I only know one person to tag, and it's Winston!

When i was little i loved car washes, now as an adult i don't like them! You have to be so exact when you pull into those things!
i, too, need a regular sleep schedule. and i agree with the whole setup of grocery stores. why don't they have EVERYTHING for a taco night right in the same aisle?
ps. we still need to go to cke. are those the right initials? when are you down? or in? or up for it?
I love that you grocery shop on inspiration. I think that is great! I impulse shop---not so good.
It is a shame that your bright idea as a child to bat left-handed hasn't actually helped in the long run with softball. Do you at least get on base more because of sleepy right-fielders??
I actually get on base less because I ground to the first baseman, which is an easy out, vs grounding to the 3rd baseman, where they'd hafta throw across the diamond.
So you've been asking questions about me...
Well yes, a random person with such an interesting life shows up and causes us all to get tagged... You've got quite the influence!
Also, Vienna is a place I'd love to see for real someday (as opposed to just one night) because of its musical history.
Rachey...
I'm ALL IN over CAKE! Next few weeks are kinda busy, but I've got that on my list now! And it's up 10% since we last talked about it.
Funny story, a while back I sent out an email I think it was about football on a Saturday. Adam Shafer wrote back "I'm down with that" and I honestly had no idea if that meant he was coming or not.
A famous story among our Vegas friends was similar.
During a poker game one guy went all in. The other thought about it for a bit then said "you got it."
The first guy started collecting the chips think he floded and the second guy started getting pissed "what are you doing I said I was all in".
isn't this a wonderful example of why english is one the hardest languages to learn?
Just went to PF Changs. Better than I expected, although a bit too pricey (sp?) for me.
1. I thought people put the worst guy in right field? Also, the short stop is usually more athletic than the 2nd baseman? I could be talking out of my ass here.
2. You might like grocery shopping online then. You can "browse" the aisles and then grab whatever you need without leaving your seat.
3. I think you should be deathly afraid of car washes because of what they do to your radio antennaes (sp?). The Tings were the only family I knew with multiple cars with chewing gum replacing the antenna.
4. We went to a Waffle House when we were in Cincy and I still don't know the answer to that.
5. Strange that you don't like Costco then. You shop for stuff there and you're done shopping for a year on some items.
6. Vinny Del Negro?
7. I don't think I care as long as it's not too early. It's the length of time that does it for me.
