New blog!

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that I've moved my blog over to www.daleting.com. With a new beginning after leaving the company, I figured it's time to make the move over to Wordpress.

See ya on the flip side!

33 and counting

As I wrap up the first day of my 33rd year on earth, I'm thankful that:

1. Not many people think I look 33. As much as I'd like to take credit for it (I do try not to get too stressed out and get plenty of rest) but I'm sure genetics play a role in that.

2. I had a lot of medical savings account money left, so I went and got a physical exam and did the full workup. Doctor couldn't find anything wrong with me.

3. I have a great set of friends and family. In many ways, my "family" has grown to the point where I kinda know what it feels like to have a bunch of extended family in town. Between my sister's in laws and family and my dad's young friends, my family went from 4 to about 20.

I'm hoping that on my 34th birthday, I'll have a lot of great stuff to talk about!

My cousin on a Taiwan version of American Idol

Here's a clip of my cousin on a Taiwanese singing show (kinda like American Idol).

I'm especially proud to have musical talent in the family. It was after a trip to Taiwan where I met up with my cousins last time that it hit me as to why I'm so "both brained" (i.e. a creative side AND an logical side). My dad's side of the family, who are mostly in the US, are engineers, scientists, etc. So it never really sunk in that it was my MOM's side of the family that was responsible for my creative side. It's after that I really decided I need to find a calling in life that allowed me to use both; what a great combination!

Waiting for Godot (gas re-lighter person)

So it's been a few weeks since I've last blogged... I'm waiting for the gas person to come by to re-light my gas because apparently they did some service on it and had to turn it off. They said they'd be here in an hour about an hour and 10 minutes ago. Reminds me of a time when this happened and the guy showed up at 1 AM. Never once called to let me know they were running late (I had called them at 8 PM, and a few times after that). I always wondered why they couldn't get a better idea of when they would show up,  or at least give you a call if they were running late.

The house has been on the market for almost two months now. I've had a few showings, but no offers yet. Story of my life. :) I think in a couple weeks, after I've pared down my stuff even more and gotten me ready to move, I might start bugging my realtor...

My neighbor did have a rummage sale this weekend, so I added a few of my things to it. Ended up making $47. Still have a 27 inch tube TV for sale for $60.

Can't wait for our annual Stupidfest vacation with my high school/college buddies. Heading to New Orleans next week!

Ug still not here. C'mon I want to get some sleep...

Sunday Night Bloginage (with holiday tomorrow!)

Weekends are great. I miss the sabbatical days...

Got to see Meghan on Friday, I forget she reads the blog... Tom actually gets his updates through Meghan through this blog or Facebook.

The house has been on the market for a couple weeks now. Had someone come through yesterday, and the good news is they didn't seem to have any issues with the house. They just decided not to move to Mason. It's hard keeping the house showable at all times. Not only do I make my bed now, I put decorative pillows on it. I also hide my trash cans and clothes hampers. It's probably a good lesson in discipline for me, but it is a stretching exercise.

I'm starting to get pumped about moving. I've narrowed down my apartment search to two places: Hyde Park and downtown. I love how the place downtown has the river right next to it and a park, and it's walkable to Newport. But the place in Hyde Park is also walkable to a lot of stuff and has a lot of restaurants around it. It also hedges an assignment in the northern suburbs... downtown would add 10-15 minutes to my commute. At least now I have a default! Now we'll see just how bad this housing market is.

I really need a rummage sale. Only issue is I've never done one before, and I don't think I have enough stuff (i.e. baby clothes) to make one go. Instead, I've got some older TVs, small furniture, printer, type stuff. Maybe I'll see when my neighbors are doing one next and leverage some scale...

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend... one more day to go!
