Respond to comments...

-No, it's not just less water, it's more active too
-No, I'm a lowly engineer, so it doesn't have my initials on it
-Yes, it doesn't seem like much to concentrate a formula and change the bottle, but if you do it for like 10 million bottles it takes a year and a half.
-Yes, there is a Downy free formula with no perfume or dye

Is it the dye that causes staining or other ingredient?

Actually I think it's the softener itself that causes it. According to the directions, you should rub with bar soap and rewash to get rid of it.

For future use, I think using a little less would help... although we want you to use a ton.
