One of my pet peeves is the use of statistics for shock than for an actual measure of the real world. The sub-line on Yahoo today was "Dow fall 777; biggest drop ever."
Class, can someone tell me why that's deceptive?

Dale -
Because it wasn't the biggest drop on a percentage basis - I hear it didn't make the top 10 - though the S&P made the top 5 worst single days as a percentage drop.
It's kinda like how every year a movie breaks the box office sales record - even though movie tickets are like $9.99 vs ghostbusters when we paid $3 (example prices do not reflect true values in either decade)
