So I'm up here, contemplating what I want to say tomorrow at our OCA banquet. I figured I'd have some fun and pull out some of the stuff that happened back when I graduated in 1996, and here's what I found:
Average gasoline price was $1.22 per gallon
Popular movies: Jerry Maguire, Independence Day, Twister, English Patient, and the venerable Beavis and Butthead Do America
Top song: The Macarena (yes, I guess 1996 was the one year it was hot... thinking back, I remember my sister teaching me the dance in time for Prom that year so I would look cool).
And of course, that was the season the Packers eventually won the Superbowl, defeating the New England Patriots 35-21. They were led by this long forgotten QB named Brett Favre.

technically it was 1997 when they won, but it was the 1996 season (does that make you feel any younger?!?? I tried). ;)

Did the Macarena ever look "cool"? I guess I admit practicing in front of my mirror.... :)
It was da bomb for maybe 2 months. We all danced it at my OCA graduation party banquet.
