I came across my posting last year about the show 24 and how it uses the same storyline every year. Well, I figure I'd compare what I blogged last time to the show so far this season. You'd be amazed.
Leadership issues at CTU - Every season, they must go through like 3 directors of CTU. There's always politics going on, and inevitably someone always gets brought in from "Division" or heaven or something and takes over the ship leaving an oh so uncomfortable tension in the room.
This year: Yup, more political tension. This time they bring in Ricky Schroeder to act as the random person they bring in to run the place that no one likes.
Kidnapping - So in the first two seasons, I got to the point where I was thinking, OK, how long before Kim gets kidnapped again. Since Kim has made another appearance this season (I guess she decided to cope with her dad's death by becoming a porn star girl next door), how long till Kim gets kidnapped again this season? Over under is 2 hours.
This year: It's Milo, Chloe's ex (and current?) husband. He gets kidnapped and is forced to program something that activates the nuclear bombs.
Family issues - So this time around it's someone's sister. Last time it was someone's metally retarded daughter. The first season it was Jack's daughter. Funny, I just noticed it's always women. Oh wait, I guess there is the one gay son of the secretary of defense who they tortured. Speaking of which...
This year: Yup, more family issues. Jack's dad is connected to terrorists, and he kills Jack's brother.
Torture - So how many times have we seen that room with the eerie dark glow where they inject someone with some stuff that makes them sweat? And how many times has Jack shot someone, shocked someone, or broke someone's fingers?
This year: Jack cuts off the fingers of a Russian guy to get him to tell him where the bombs are built. And of course the obligatory torture of his brother while tied in a chair.
Security issues at CTU - So at least twice someone has bombed, gassed, or somehow infiltrated CTU. You think their security would be a little better?
The only thing this year, which is the same as last year, is a potentially wrongly accused CTU agent who's framed as a spy. Ricky Schroeder starts to torture her, but they get distracted.
This year, once again the Vice President figures out a way to wrestle power from the righteous president. And the VP decides to do something horrible.
I can officially say to the show 24: GET SOME NEW MATERIAL.

I have never seen the show and I could have told you that based on the previews.
"We think Jack is dead or may have to die for his country" this week on 24!
waht did i miss with kim coming back!? where is she?! how do you know?!
Kim came back in last year's 24, I'm comparing this year with last year.
But you still watch it though, right? It's like a drug that you get used to after a while, so they modify it slightly to give you the same sensation you used to feel.
