Fess up, whoever's reading this in Florida...

Ah, fun with Google Analytics. I figured out that I can track traffic on my blog with Google Analytics. Here's some of the stuff I've come up with, based on traffic data from the last week:

They don't call Karen's blog the blog hub for no reason. In the last week, there have been 53 clicks to my blog from her site. Dave's blog is #2 with 35. Then Martha and Jenny's blogs, then bloglines (I suppose that's Winston). Tom's blog is a distant 6th, with 4, just in front of Greg the loved one (remind me how he got that nickname?) blog with 2.

No one made it to my blog via search engine. Which is good, because I set it that way and didn't want random people finding it.

No on clicks on my ads. Which isn't a big deal, I just have them up there as a test and for entertainment value (Packer ring tones?). Don't go about clicking them now, technically I'm not supposed to talk about them.

There were 71 visits from Ohio (a whopping 36 from Fairfield, 15 from Cincinnati, and 7 from Mason... I assume that's Tom, bc I have it filtering out my clicks). Random visits from Cardington and Ashley, Ohio. I don't even know where that is... according to the map it's around Columbus.

22 visits from Massachusetts (is this the Sturgis brothers at home?) and 15 from Oregon (hi Martha!). 6 visits from Niles, Illinois (guess it's near Chicago). Kentucky has 6 from Georgetown/Lexington. It took me a while to figure out who that was, but if I remember right Katherine is from Kentucky. Minnesota has 3 (my friend Erin had been reading up a bit, wonder if that's her). And then randomly 2 from Florida, New Jersey, and Michigan. If someone there is reading this, I'm curious who you are!.

Another interesting note... a big fat goose egg from Wisconsin. Apparently no one loves me there. At least loves me enough to read my blog. Guess it could be worse, my parents could be reading this and commenting. :) Also zero from California, where Winston hails. Winston, maybe you can try getting to this blog by typing it once and then I can see if California pops up.

Hi, Dale! (from sunny Oregon)

Tracking and identifying who checks out your website creeps me out. I hate the thought of people (govt, corporations, friends) knowing what I do. I know several others do it/have done it, too.

I usually bounce around from blog to blog. I have it in a pattern where I start at Karens, and then try to go thru everyones without duplicating. I don't have a certain order so sometimes I get "stuck" (i.e. can't to to others besides really Karen's from yours, can't get to yours or Katrins from Lisa's, etc.)

Is it really showing Niles, IL? I wonder why not Palatine, or Chicago, because that's where I'm either at home or at work reading blogs...

After watching the football game the other night I was wondering if there's been any change in your waiting list spot for season tickets...

To answer Viki's question, the 90 year waiting list also includes the 30 years when the Pack absolutely sucked. So no, won't see a drop. In fact, might slow down bc the Pack showed they were good this year!

To answer Martha... Yeah a lot of people are paranoid of people tracking them, but in real life, 99.99999% of the people in the world don't even know you exist, much less care about where you are. As long as there's nothing to hide on your part or the info not being used for evil purposes on the other part, I'm OK with it. In fact, I'm all for it... Feels good to know that if I'm in trouble someone might be able to track me down by the signal from my cell phone.

yea, Viki's a BEARS fan. BOOOOO.

Yea. I appreciate the benefits of being able to stalk people - especially living in Oregon where people get lost on Mt. Hood all too often. I just don't like the concept of people knowing what I'm doing all the time(gasp. what if I went to your blog before or after visiting a porn site. You would then know what I do on this theoretical *free* time). It's one thing to be able to check up on people and another to actually DO it. Now your curious about my hobbies, aren't you? Don't worry, I bake and ride horses. I don't have a porn addiction. I made cherry pie and cream puffs in the last 3 days. mmmmmm. My coworkers get to benefit the most from the baking habit.

Checking in from Topeka, KS. I opened a new browser and went to your site, so hopefully it doesn't show up as bloglines this time.

the technology is great to have on hand for "emergency use" (when would you need to know how many times I've been to a site or where I was immediately before and after? I'm not a serial killer plotting demise on the internet or anything!!) but using it to know what others are doing isn't so great.

Dale - Meghan and I were in Florida this year in September. Maybe we visited your blog then? We could also count for Costa Rica.

you know who's in FL? Lisa's friend Laura who reads my blog at times. I'm banking on that being her (for lack of knowing anyone else in FL). I definitely use my blog to get to yours so i count in in that number of click-thru's! I assume that's how Jim gets to you too.
