I took the day off today just because I could. I love having 4 weeks of vacation (well actually we get 3 weeks and we "buy" a week.... but next year I get a full 4 weeks as I near my 10 year anniversary... whoa). I'm sitting at Caribou Coffee right now enjoying the day off... So an update on stuff that's happening in my life:
Today I refinanced my mortgage. Got 5.125% with $350 of closing costs. There are two banks in the area with those low costs: Guardian Savings and union Savings. The closing costs payout in 6 months. The better part is the monthly payment drops a ton because I don't hafta do an escrow anymore.
I headed to Jungle Jim's and got a bunch of food. It's always a good time there!
Softball starts in three weeks
I started a dynasty baseball league with Dave... that starts in three weeks too
I also decided to do a 3 month leave of absence in July, and it was agreed in principle by my boss. I do plan on traveling a little bit (mainly to follow the Brewers on the road!) but also to work on my own projects and to do some reflection on what I want to do with my P&G career. If anyone has any road trip fun places to stop going east (or a little south), let me know!

I wish I could do a 3 month leave of absence! I think there are a bunch of wineries in Indiana and Kentucky that would be fun to visit if you are into that...
There's a lot of history in PA and VA and DC. There's really a lot in about a 2 hour radius. I guess there's the Jersey Shore, but you have to pay for beach access for much of the shoreline during peak hours. starting in July for 3 months? Well, you could check out peak fall foliage in the New England States. Get lobster in Maine, tax-free shopping in Delaware, crab in Maryland....North Carolina, if you're willing to go that far south has some good attractions, too. and wineries! And history....
you can visit us in Virginia Beach - we'll be there 8-1 thru 8-8! want to babysit?
i suggest mammouth caves as a weekend activity.
how much reflecting are you really going to do? sounds good in theroy but i'd just end up reading romance novels.
Go to San Antonio - study the Alamo and then go visit it. It's quite inspirational. San Antonio is a great place besides, too - just go toward the end of your 3 months because it gets insanely hot.
While in Texas, visit their wineries, too - they're much better than the KY and IN ones!
Thanks for the suggestions... Karen I took 3 months off to enjoy my singleness... I think babysitting might be counter-productive :)
